Embarking on the journey of collaborating with Singita designers and Cecile and Boyd Interiors to bring to life a truly magical and iconic camp in the Serengeti was an experience beyond compare. Working alongside, we set out to create a space that would not only captivate the senses but also seamlessly blend with the surrounding Serengeti landscape. With painstaking attention to detail, every element was carefully curated to ensure that the design and style of the camp exuded a sense of natural harmony. It was an endeavor fueled by the desire to honor and showcase the astounding beauty of the environment.

As an artisan, I had the immense honor of playing a crucial role in bringing the elegance and charm of this camp to life. Working onsite in the Serengeti, I established a workshop where we meticulously crafted each piece of woodwork that would grace the camp. Operating in such a remote location posed unique challenges, but we embraced them head-on and successfully completed the installation, seamlessly blending the woodwork into the camp's design to create an atmosphere of serenity and refinement.

In addition to our commitment to excellence, we also prioritized empowering the local community. By training and working alongside them, we not only imparted new skills but also ensured the long-term maintenance and preservation of the woodwork. It was an absolute joy to be a part of this endeavor, right from manufacturing the interiors to the remote installation in the breathtaking remote Lamai Region of the Masai Mara Reserve. Collaborating with the talented Singita designers and my amazing team was an incredible experience, and we also had the opportunity to involve and train some local artisans right on the picturesque Mara River in Tanzania.

Undoubtedly, working in a remote location presents its fair share of challenges. However, I thrived on the excitement of overcoming these obstacles while immersing myself in the splendid beauty of the African bush. Witnessing the lodge take shape throughout the process was truly gratifying, and I take great pride in knowing that my craftsmanship has contributed to the allure of this African gem nestled in the heart of the Serengeti.

Embarking on the project of managing and bringing to life the iconic Rise building for Grumeti Fund in the Serengeti was an exhilarating experience. From the initial planning stages to the final touches, every aspect of this architectural marvel was carefully crafted, promising not just functionality but also a breathtaking aesthetic.

One of the standout features of the Rise building is its striking roof structure and beautifully exposed timber beams. Working closely with my team, we ensured that this architectural brilliance not only met the highest standards but also elevated the aesthetic appeal of the entire building. Every timber beam, lovingly shaped and perfectly positioned, added a touch of elegance that breathed life into the structure.

While overseeing the project, David Wernas and I had the pleasure of manufacturing unique freestanding furniture. These bespoke pieces were carefully designed to complement the overall theme and ambiance of the Rise building. As the furniture found its place within the space, it enhanced both style and comfort, creating a harmonious blend of form and function.

As the lab and kitchen came to life within the Rise building, it was a moment of pride and fulfillment for us. Attention to detail became our guiding principle, ensuring that every square inch met our exacting standards. The result was a fusion of state-of-the-art facilities and exquisite design.
